League Triumph for Loughborough Students Handball Club!

Posted: 13th May 2024 - 4:07pm

It’s time for celebrations for the Loughborough Students Handball Club as they were crowned winners of the Women’s Handball Premier League earlier this month.

The contributions of current Loughborough College students Chloe Barnard, Francesca Fraser-Hook, Ruth Knowles-Jackson, and Tabatha Dann-Ward were instrumental in securing the national title, with Chloe crowned Player of the Match in their nail-biting draw with Olympia.

Joining them in their triumph were Higher Education students Georgia Batty-Smith and Clio Stephanides, whose skill and determination bolstered the team's performance throughout the season. It was Clio that took the Player of the Match trophy, as the team stormed to victory, winning 29-23 over opponents West London Eagles.

Not to be overlooked is the invaluable contribution of alumna Anna Rayner, whose role in the squad has been key to the team’s success.

Reflecting on this remarkable achievement, Curriculum Manager for Sport and Esport at Loughborough College, Danny Lee highlighted the significance of the team's victory, “This is a massive achievement, and the team should be so proud. Their success not only brings honour to the College but also serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring athletes.”

The focus now shifts to the upcoming British SuperCup. The squad's journey continues as they prepare to put themselves to the test against some of the best handball teams across the country.
