Loughborough apprentices make an integral part of a global business

Loughborough College apprentices are proving invaluable to a global food supplier based in Leicestershire.

Thanks to the College’s extensive and supportive programme, the Healy Group of Bardon Hill, Coalville, has welcomed 30 percent of its workforce through the apprentice programme.

Working closely with the College, the Group has introduced six apprentices over the last eight years.

Anthony Healy, Chief Financial Officer and HR Director at The Healy Group, said: “Each candidate the Loughborough College team found has become such an important part of our team, we would not have a successful company without each of the six we have added to our team over the last eight years.

“As our company grows, we hope to keep adding to our team and with the success of the Apprentice programme for us, we will continue to use this programme. It has a better success rate than any other recruitment process.”

Loughborough College’s Business Development Consultants have been supporting The Healy Group with its apprentice programme for nearly a decade.

Paula Allerton, Head of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement, said: “I’m very proud of the work our apprenticeships team does with local and national employers and am delighted that our students are a testament to the College.

“Apprenticeships are a great way for employers to grow their teams while supporting students to develop their skills in the real-world.”

The group has recruited apprentices in accounting, supply chain and business administration. The most recent apprentice joined the warehouse team, while others have progressed from their apprentice roles to management accountant and sales development manager positions.

Alongside their work, the apprentices have received on-the-job training and recognised qualifications to support them with their careers.

The College also provides advice and support to employers as well as their apprentices, to ensure the programme is tailored to meet business needs.

Anthony added: “With the college team and the placement company working side by side to find the right candidate, each can work to advantage for everyone involved, not only Healy Group, but the apprentice themselves the future of their careers.”
