We are pleased to celebrate three current and former students across our further education and higher education provisions who will represent Great Britain at the upcoming Deaflympics in Tokyo.

Current students Aalayah Clarke and Henry Hughes have been selected to represent Deaflympics GB Women’s Football and Swimming respectively, alongside Extended Diploma in Sport alumni Harry Boorman who will take to the pitches for Deaflympics GB Men’s Football.

Henry, who is studying for his BSc in Sports Management at Loughborough College, has demonstrated outstanding commitment and performance in the pool, balancing his academic studies with elite-level training and competition.

Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager for Sport at Loughborough College said: “We are incredibly proud of Aalayah, Harry, and Henry for their remarkable achievements. To see our students representing Great Britain across football and swimming on such a prestigious stage is truly special.

“Their dedication, professionalism, and passion for their sports are outstanding, and they are all fantastic ambassadors for Loughborough College and for Deaf sport. We wish them every success as they head to Tokyo.”

The Deaflympics, first held in 1924 in Paris, are the world’s second-oldest multi-sport event after the Olympics. Organised by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD), the Games bring together elite deaf athletes from across the globe to compete at the highest level.

This year’s Deaflympic Games kicks off on Saturday 15th November, and all the updates can be found on the Team GB website.
