Loughborough College says ‘thank you’ to top employers

Posted: 2nd December 2021 - 10:45am

Employers who played a key role in supporting students and the development of Loughborough College’s T Level curriculum were thanked at a special event.

The T Level Celebration event was held at the College’s Radmoor Restaurant for a host of top employers, staff and students to network and plot future collaborations.

Our employers included City Electrical, Flotec Industrial Limited, BEG UK, Preci-Spark, AVENS and Firth Electrical.

Four of our T Level students - William Zheng, James Smith, Samuel Jones and Ryan Weston - also attended and told employers what a difference they had made to their studies.

Fiona Henderson, who heads up the College’s electrical engineering curriculum team, said: “The evening was a great success and a perfect starting point for future collaborations.

“As well as thanking our employers who have helped us in the past, we also asked them to help support us in the future with everything from industry talks, work placements and involvement in writing course content and lesson plans.

“Working collaboratively with industry to develop our lessons means we stay on top of real-life scenarios and context which enriches the student experience and learning.”

Some of our talented electrical students are currently using their skills to create an army of mini-robots called “Mr Sparkle”. Using recycled materials, the team is creating small robots which can be programmed to sing of say a greeting. They plan to sell the robots to raise money for local charities.

The College is currently building a £2.3m new, state-of-the-art T Level Centre at its Epinal Way entrance. It is due to open in September 2022.
