Loughborough College, a partner with NFL Academy, is on the search for the next NFL Superbowl star.
American Football is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide and is attracting new players from across the globe, and now budding quarterbacks, running backs or defensive linesmen from the East Midlands and across the UK are invited to try out at an event being hosted by Loughborough College on 4th February 2023.
“American football is a game of skill, speed, strength and strategy” said NFL Academy Head Coach Tony Allen,
“Athletes who currently enjoy soccer, rugby and basketball, or those training for track and field events, may want to come ‘Try Out’ and test their abilities.
“Do you think you can throw a spiral pass 70 yards with unerring accuracy? Can you safely take a pass in mid-air at full flight? Could you sidestep a crunching tackle and pirouette to safety? Or perhaps you long to wrap your arms around an opponent and bring their progress to a juddering halt?
There are plenty of opportunities to experience the fun of American Football for all kinds of athletes” explained Coach TA.
“No previous experience in the game is required, we are just looking for those athletes who are interested to try something new” says NFL Academy Director Alison Wyeth.
“Why not get your team-mates together from the rugby club, your football squad or your training buddies at the gym and try something fresh?” challenges NFL Academy Manager Liam Wild.
American Football in the UK has started to establish roots with regular season games being played at Tottenham Hotspur stadium, exhibition games at Wembley and The Millennium Stadium.
“Wouldn’t it be great to see a UK player win the ultimate prize in American Football?’ says Coach Marv, who played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“In the U.S., a well-established pathway to the professional game exists through the high school and college system. NFL Academy is here to give British students and athletes the same opportunity to develop their potential and reach the top of the game.”
