Earlier this month, Loughborough College held a series of in-person and online events celebrating annual National Apprenticeship Week. Through a series of in-person and online events, the week brought together the apprenticeship community to showcase the positive impact apprenticeships have on individuals, businesses, and the broader economy.
The theme of this year's celebration was Skills for Life, which emphasised the importance of developing essential skills for learners. The college adopted this theme across a week of exciting and inspiring events and visits, including daily Drop-In sessions for learners, and valuable visits to our employers at Next Steps Day Nursery, Preci-Spark, and RWP Accountants.
Reflecting on her visit to Preci-Spark, Loughborough College's Director of Strategic Partnerships, Laura Shepherd said, "Apprenticeships are becoming increasingly popular, offering the chance to gain a recognised qualification, progress to a degree, develop professional skills, all whilst earning a salary.
“What a fantastic local engineering company who have really incorporated apprenticeships into their planning, bringing a new workforce into the sector.”
Our annual Employer and Apprenticeship Fair was a chance to shine a light on apprenticeship opportunities to current and prospective learners by welcoming employers from across a wide range of industries and sectors, informing students, teachers, and parents about apprenticeships and T-Levels across a wide variety of industries and sectors.
We were also proud to celebrate our ongoing partnership with local employer Brush, who received a Platinum Employer Partner Award for their many years of supporting the College’s apprenticeship programme. Jonathan Lee, a representative for BRUSH shared, “This National Apprenticeship Week has been extra special, being recognised for our partnership with Loughborough College.
“We have a long history of recruiting and developing apprentices, and many continue to work within our business progressing their careers to various levels.”
