Guests were treated to cracking Christmas canapes, drinks and a tour of kitchens at a special event to officially mark the £30,000 revamp of the Radmoor Restaurant at Loughborough College.

The revamp was possible due to a generous £30,000 grant from The Savoy Educational Trust and has meant the College can strengthen the quality of the Radmoor training restaurant with new flooring, a modernised bar area and improved dining area.

Guests included food writers and journalists, representatives from partners who work with the College, staff and College governors.

Award-winning chef Darren Creed, Curriculum Manager at Loughborough College, said: “The whole hospitality team is delighted to have completed these improvements thanks to this generous grant from The Savoy Educational Trust.

“As our guests discovered, we now offer our amazing menu in a more contemporary environment. The aim is to attract more customers to come and dine with us, especially business customers who could use the venue for meetings or events.

“It is an exciting time at the Radmoor and I’m delighted that we can provide such a tremendous facility to our learners and guests. A massive thank you goes to the Savoy Educational Trust whose grant made this possible.”

The Savoy Educational Trust is an independent, grant-giving charitable trust, whose main aim is to advance and develop education, training and qualifications within the hospitality industry. It awards grants for a wide variety of hospitality-related projects.

A Trust spokesperson said: “The Trustees were delighted to award funding for the Radmoor training restaurant refurbishment recently. They are always very keen to ensure colleges have relevant and up-to-date training environments for the students. They believe this really helps to bridge the gap between education and employment.”

It is the latest in a string of achievements for the Radmoor Restaurant which was recently awarded the Craft Guild of Chefs College and University Accreditation after successfully meeting the Guild’s strict standards and quality requirements.
