Loughborough College recently hosted a special event as part of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), welcoming back sporting alumnae Amelia Coltman and Lilli Ives Campion for an inspiring and motivational discussion with TASS learners.

Both athletes, who have represented Great Britain on the international stage in their respective sports, shared their experiences and insights into the world of athletics with current students. They spoke to learners honestly about the pressures associated with professional sports, and answered thoughtful questions on nutrition, wellness, and the psychology of being an elite athlete.

Amelia, who proudly represents Great Britain in Skeleton, and Lilli, who showcases her talent as part of England's national rugby team, shared stories and advice highlighting their experience and dedication.

Speaking at the event, lecturer Steph Tirrell, who coordinates the TASS programme at Loughborough College, emphasised the College’s role in supporting talented athletes in their pursuit of excellence, sharing, “TASS plays a crucial role in nurturing the potential of our young athletes. We are proud to support over 75 learners in the programme, providing them with the resources and guidance they need to succeed both in sport and education.”

Amelia and Lilli shared valuable insights into balancing sport with education and personal development. “Representing my country has been a lifelong dream of mine, and it's been an incredible journey so far," said Amelia. "Events like these remind me of the importance of sharing our experiences with the next generation of athletes.”

“Being part of the England rugby team has been a privilege, but it has been the support of those around me that have really driven me to success. Programmes like TASS are what really provide sportspeople with the guidance they need to thrive both on and off the field,” added Lilli.

Loughborough College remains committed to supporting its talented athletes through initiatives like the TASS programme, ensuring that they have the tools and resources necessary to reach their full potential in sport and academia.
