Three former Loughborough College students have been selected for England’s Red Roses training squad ahead of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup, set to be held in the UK this summer.

Lilli Ives Campion and Morwenna Talling, who both took part in the College’s Women’s Rugby Academy, join Applied Sport Science and Management degree graduate Megan Jones, in the 38-player squad announced by head coach John Mitchell.

Former Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) learner Lilli, who plays as a lock for Loughborough Lightning, earned her first senior England cap in September whilst alumna Morwenna, back-row forward now with Sale Sharks, brings her experience from 18 international caps to the squad. She, along with Meg were two of the talented sportspeople to earn the third successive Grand Slam title in the Women’s Six Nations Championship with the Red Roses last year.

Brad Jones, Head Coach of the Women’s Rugby Academy at Loughborough College, expressed his pride in the former students, sharing: “It’s incredibly rewarding to see Lilli and Morwenna, products of our Academy, reach such heights in their rugby careers. Their dedication and progression are a testament to the pathways we’ve established here at the College.”

Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager for Sport and Esport at Loughborough College agreed, adding: “Megan’s journey from our degree level programme to the international stage exemplifies the development we strive for at Loughborough College. We’re thrilled to see our alumnae making significant impacts at the highest levels of the sport.”

The Red Roses will commence their World Cup campaign on Friday 22nd August against the United States in Sunderland, hoping to work their way to the final match, due to be held at Twickenham Stadium in September.
