Sports Staff Face Extraordinary Obstacle Trail for National Charity
Monday 10th June 2024

Facing mud, rain, wind, and water, seven brave Sports staff members from across College took on the challenging Wolf Run this weekend, in the name of charity.
Holly Bentley, Joseph Jowett, Suraj Patel, Miguel Ribeiro, Hannah Smith, Joshil Thakrar, and Karol Ziniewicz, led by Curriculum Manager Danny Lee completed the demanding course, which took them through chilly lakes, down muddy slides, and through marshy woodlands over a 10km track.
The team have been raising vital funds for national testicular cancer awareness charity, the OddBalls Foundation, which aims to provide men with the education and support in checking themselves, whilst breaking down stigmas around cancer.
Danny shared, “The Wolf Run has a reputation for being a gruelling but exhilarating challenge, and it definitely lives up to the name! The team were amazing, and we kept each other motivated throughout the route.
“I know from experience how important the work that the OddBalls Foundation do. This challenge wasn’t just about pushing our physical limits, but about spreading awareness and education around testicular cancer.”
By participating in The Wolf Run challenge, the Sports team have contributed to the College wide Good for Me, Good for FE campaign, which encourages staff and students in further and higher education to take part in charity and community outreach projects. Co-founded by Loughborough College in 2021, the initiative has so far raised more than £258,000 nationwide for various charities and projects.
Donations are still coming in for the Wolf Run challenge, and the full story from the team can be found on their JustGiving page.
