Posted: 22nd May 2024 - 2:43pm

As part of the continued growth of Loughborough College, students and staff celebrated the opening of the new dedicated social space, the 1909 Lounge this week.

Described as a place for learners to “eat, chill, and study”, the lounge was opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony, complete with delicious cakes and music. Students enjoyed exploring the space and even got to take part in a couple of games of table football!

Acting Principal and CEO, Heather Clarke cut the ribbon to welcome learners to the 1909 Lounge and shared, “We are so proud to open this new dedicated student social space. As part of our constantly evolving campus, we work closely with our students to create a campus that is inspiring, modern, and motivational.”

The 1909 Lounge was built by manufacturer Streetspace, and features graffiti wall art inspired by the rich history of the College. Details such as the College’s FREDIE values are represented in the artworks, which were created by staff in the Design Team.

Heather continued, “The 1909 Lounge is part of the wider expansion of the College, ensuring that we stay at the cutting edge of further and higher education. We are pleased to welcome students to this new space and look forward to more developments across campus soon.”
