A determined student has landed her “dream job” after completing Loughborough College’s award-winning marketing programme.

Priya Gill, 34, of Coalville, had been trying to land entry-level marketing roles without success and became demoralised after receiving rejection letter after rejection letter.

She eventually discovered Loughborough College’s Marketing Diploma course where she achieved a distinction in her Level 4 Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) course, despite a shift to remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She now works as a Marketing, Sales and Event Coordinator for Birmingham City University Students’ Union.

Priya said: “What a year it's been - but I am so grateful for the College’s support and the excellent teaching. I always looked forward to our classes and I’m so pleased to have had 100% attendance! I was over the moon to know I scored a distinction overall. Soon after handing in the third module I started a new job as a Marketing, Sales and Events Coordinator for Birmingham City University Students' Union. I recently passed my probation too and honestly have the best job in the world. I'm so happy to be working for a university and really enjoy the job, a lot of it thanks to CIM!”

Renee Lee-Brown, Loughborough College’s Curriculum Manager for Professional Qualifications and Service Industries, said: “Priya was really struggling with her confidence and kept applying for marketing jobs before joining us - but didn’t have any joy and it really demoralised her. But she worked so hard to study for her CIM Level 4 and we’re so proud of her in achieving a distinction and finding her dream job. It’s the reason I love working in further education. Seeing students transform their lives is so rewarding.”

Loughborough College has earned more than 40 commendations from the Chartered Institute of Marketing for the quality of its course and achievements of students over the last decade.
