Lucky Loughborough College students were treated to a spa experience as part of a special fact-finding mission to a top-class venue.

A group of Level 3 Body and Spa students visited Champneys Springs, near Ashby-de-la-Zouch, where they were given a welcome breakfast, use of the spa facilities and a tour of the building, plus a careers talk from the Spa Manager.

Student Judith Atherton, of Loughborough, said: “I really enjoyed the visit to Champneys, it was great that we were able to visit and spend time in a leading spa. We have been learning about spa facilities and treatments so it was really beneficial getting to experience these first hand. We also had an insight of what it would be like to work as a spa therapist.”

Louise Costigan, Programme Lead, organised the trip so that students would be able to better complete a unit of work as part of their course.

She said: “The experience was extremely valuable to put theory into practice. The learners were able to use the spa equipment that they have been training in and see the therapy rooms and surroundings that they can aspire to work in. The students felt extremely welcomed by the spa staff and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and felt excited about the career opportunities out in industry.”

A current Level 3 Beauty learner, Millie Swanwick, has also recently secured a position as a Beauty Therapist at Champneys Springs.
