A student mechanic from Loughborough College has been offered a three-year apprenticeship at Sandicliffe after shining as part of a T-Level industry placement.

Kinnari Khodiara, 18, of Leicester, secured her new job with Sandicliffe in Welford Road, Leicester, after a 12-month placement as part of her Level 3 Diploma in Light Maintenance and Repair at College.

Kinnari said: “I felt really happy being offered the apprenticeship as now I have a future career path ahead of me. T levels are a great way to learn and get hands on with a job unlike a normal course where you are sat at a desk and looking through books.

“I would definitely recommend T levels as you gain an understanding of what needs to be done in the industry you’re about to work in and how a real business works in its day to day job.”

Rachel Wade, Employability Coordinator at Loughborough College, said: “We’re so happy that Kinnari’s hard work and diligence has paid off and that she has a firm job offer to work as an apprentice at Sandicliffe.

“The College’s Employability and Careers team has built a fantastic working relationship with Sandicliffe over the years with work placements and we’re really excited to now offer T Levels as part of our industry placement offer. The Industry placements are a great way for any organisation to offer students an insight into the sector that they are looking to work in and potentially offer future employment and progression links.”

Mel Lees, HR and Group Support Coordinator at Sandicliffe, said: “She clearly has a real passion in what she does and this was recognised by our service manager, who was thrilled to be able to offer her a three-year apprenticeship as he could see her dedication and attention to detail. We look forward in seeing what else she can achieve in her future career with Sandicliffe.”
