Therma Tread Elite Triumphs at Young Enterprise Start-Up Final

The national Young Enterprise Start-Up Final was held at Loughborough College this week to determine which team of students from across the country will be representing the UK in the forthcoming European final.

After inspirational pitches, Therma Tread Elite, an innovative student-led business from Loughborough College, were named the overall winners.

Students Tyler Harding and Tom Doar impressed the judges with their revolutionary product designed to reduce foot and ankle injuries in sports. Speaking about their innovative product, Tyler said, “Therma Tread Elite is a unique new solution which addresses common issues in sporting injuries, offering a blend of thermal, grip, and comfort to reduce injury, keep muscles warm, and wick away sweat.”

The Young Enterprise Start-Up programme is renowned for fostering entrepreneurial talent among young individuals, providing them with a platform to develop and pitch their business ideas on a regional, national, and international stage. Reflecting on Therma Tread Elite’s victory, Tom shared, “When we started this journey, I would never have believed any of this was possible. At all stages of the competition, we have faced some tough teams with amazing ideas. We hope everyone will be cheering us on in the European finals!”

As they prepare for the European final, to be held in Catania, Italy in July, Therma Tread Elite are excited to present their groundbreaking product on an international stage. Business and Management Lecturer, Iqbal Ullah shared, “This upcoming competition is an exciting opportunity for the team showcase their product. They really rose to the challenge, and we look forward to seeing what they do next.”

The team’s win is another significant triumph for Loughborough College, following last year’s storming success of Team Tiaki. The three-student team first wowed 2023 gust judge Anne, Princess Royal to compete as the UK representative in the competition, before going on to take the title of JA Europe Innovation of the Year.
