Posted: 22nd April 2021 - 1:47pm

Three Loughborough College students have been selected for the 2021 England Netball Roses Academy.

Bethan Lount, Georgie Brock Taylor, and Millie Van Nierop, all aged 18, who all play for Loughborough Lightning, were selected to join training camps in May and July with the aim to be selected for England duty in July.

They are among 29 netballers who took part in selection trials at Loughborough University at the weekend (17/18th April 2021).

The trio all study BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Sciences at Loughborough College.

James Maudsley, curriculum manager for sport at the College, said: “Bethan, Georgie and Millie have worked extremely hard and done exceptionally well to make the academy squad. The trials at the University are always full of exceptional talent so we couldn’t be prouder of them for making the final 29.”

The Roses Academy long squad was first selected in December 2020, allowing more athletes than ever before the opportunity to experience the Roses Academy programme.

The group trained together virtually and had access to educational sessions on Zoom throughout lockdown, as well as coming together for a day camp in March.

The selection for the Roses Academy 2021/22 will be in August. Find out more here: https://www.englandnetball.co.uk/2021-roses-academy-squad-selected/
