Women’s Football DiSE Learners currently learning through the College have been called up for the England women’s under-17 squad for the UEFA Women’s U17 Euro finals, taking place in Estonia this month.
Ten current College DiSE learners have been announced as part of the squad, with goalkeepers Katie Cox and Sophia Poor, defenders Ria Bose and Mari Ward, joining midfielders Holly Deering and Lexi Potter, and forwards Ava Baker, Araya Dennis, Milly Round, and Ruby-Rae Tucker comprising half of the Young Lionesses team as they head to Estonia for the tournament.
The squad’s campaign kicks off in Tallinn on Sunday as they face Poland in an exciting group stage opener. From there, the team will go head-to-head with Sweden on Wednesday 17 May, before wrapping up with what will be a thrilling match against France on Saturday 20 May.
The Young Lionesses will need to battle it out against seven other European national teams to get their hands on the prestigious U17 Euro trophy, to be awarded at the tournament final, scheduled for Friday 26 May.
The Young Lionesses soared through their two qualifying stages, winning five of their six games to secure their place in the competition.
