Leicester City’s Women’s U21 Academy squad lifted the PGA Plate Trophy this past weekend, with 13 of the 16-strong squad linked to Loughborough College.

In a storming 3-0 victory over Charlton, it was College student and Leicester Women’s Academy star Ava Baker who claimed two goals, clinching the win and the first piece of silverware for the team.

Ava, who is currently studying as part of the Diploma in Sporting Excellence (DiSE) programme as well as working towards a BTEC L3 through Distance Learning, joins twelve other Young Foxes who studying with Loughborough College through a range of courses and qualifications.

Elite and Professional Sports Coordinator for Loughborough College, Sam James shared, “To win the PGA Plate for 23/24 is a huge achievement and something that all players and staff should be proud of.

“The group have applied themselves well this year, narrowly missing out on the PGA Northern League title, and the opportunity of further silverware. Our attention now turns to the County Cup Final, on Thursday 9 May, where we look to win the double.”

The Academy take on local team Anstey Nomads in the County Cup Final, set to be held at Holmes Park, Whetstone. Good luck to all our learners taking to the pitch!
