Creativity Meets the Creche – Billie’s Apprenticeship Story
Tuesday 10th February 2026

Level 3 Early Years Practitioner Apprentice, Billie Spence began her journey at Loughborough College Group as a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in 2022.
Having grown her skillset over the course of her Level 2 Apprenticeship, Billie was inspired to continue to expand her expertise by embarking on her Level 3 course. Encouraged by her employer, The Pines Nursery in Ilkeston, Billie has developed the skills, knowledge, and behaviours needed to shape the future of the next generations.
Reflecting on Billie’s journey, Curriculum Head for Care, Education, Science, Services and Sport Apprenticeships at Loughborough College Group, Sunny Chavda shared: “Billie is passionate about working with children and supporting their development. This is reflected in the dedication she shows both in and outside of the setting, and her ability to go above and beyond for the children she works with.”
Committed to delivering the best care and support to the children at The Pines, Billie brings her pastimes to her Apprenticeship as she crochets and sews a range of learning resources, including story maps and props, to enhance children’s engagement, creativity, and enjoyment of learning.
With clear aspirations to progress onto a Level 4 or Level 5 qualification, Billie’s journey demonstrates how Education Apprenticeships support career development while allowing individuals to bring their passions into practice and make a meaningful difference for children.
