One of the world’s top DJs is coming to Loughborough College to lead a face-to-face industry masterclass for music degree students.

Jon1st, who has built his reputation as a “DJ’s DJ” has gone from strength to strength since winning the prestigious 2013 DMC World Online Championships. He has toured the USA with his collaborator, Shield, as well as making frequent appearances across Europe and Asia.

He will share his expertise, insights and worldwide experience to inspire our students to make their own statements in the music industry.

Matthew Toole, HE Lead for Music, said: “We’re delighted to secure Jon1st as a guest speaker. His global industry experience and insight will be invaluable to our students.

“He will explain the technical set-up he uses and the philosophy behind his choices, which is an essential part of the second-year module, Innovative Performance Techniques and Technologies, as students explore the huge range of equipment that is available to them and analyse the implications that differing equipment may have on their performances.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming him to the College as part of our enrichment programme.”

With his breadth of knowledge as a freelance music entrepreneur, Jon1st will specifically advise first-year student on The Music Industry and Enterprise module, where they are tasked with setting up their own business or service.

Coming from a turntablist background, Jon1st’s technical ability spins to new and diverse levels where he effortlessly fuses influences across the alternative bass music spectrum.

On top of DJing, performing and producing, Jon1st has collaborated with a variety of household names including Beardyman, Ivy Lab, Alix Perez, EAN, DJ Craze, DJ Vadim and many more.
