Staff and students at the AoC Sport National Championships

Students from across the College’s Sports Academies are celebrating an exceptional performance at this year’s AoC Sport National Championships, where our students delivered a medal-winning display that highlighted not only their talent and dedication but also the growing strength of our sport programme.

Our athletes put in remarkable performances across a wide range of sports, proudly bringing home seven medals – including three national titles.

Bringing home the Gold were our Badminton, Fitness Games, and Women’s Rugby teams, meanwhile Men’s Tennis players Louis Harvey-Mitchell and Harry Bell took Silver in a tense final battle.

Elsewhere, Women’s Cross Country runners Rebecca Van Aardt, Keira Collinson, Jess Parker, and Lily Anne Bryan faced a tough course in warm conditions to clinch a well-earnt Bronze medal for the College, as did the Boccia and Women’s Volleyball teams.

In addition to these podium finishes – which matched last year’s record-breaking total - our athletes raised the bar even higher with historic best-ever finishes for both the Men’s Football team, who placed 4th, and the Men’s Rugby team, who secured 5th overall.

Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager for Sport at Loughborough College praised the achievements of our students, sharing: “To see so many of our students not only compete but excel on the national stage is a huge source of pride. Their commitment, resilience, and teamwork are what sets Loughborough College apart.”

This year also marked a new milestone for participation as Loughborough College took a staggering 132 learners to the Championships – our largest team ever – reflecting a growing culture of engagement and passion for sport across campus, which also played a key role in helping the East Midlands region finish 2nd in the Wilkinson Sword standings, its highest placement ever in the competition.

Elite Sport Manager at Loughborough College, Dan Jackson, added: “This year’s Championships showcased just how strong our performance pathway has become. From first-time competitors to seasoned athletes, every individual contributed to an incredible team result.”
