Apprenticeship summary

Warehouse Operatives help manage people, processes and systems. They ensure productivity targets are met and oversee the maintenance of warehouse and labour management systems. Warehouse Operatives will also be involved in operating FLT or other lifting equipment. They ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.

Typical work activities include:

  • Liaising with internal and external customers and suppliers to effectively manage goods, waste and material handling equipment via telephone and email.
  • Maintaining records of employee attendance and absenteeism.
  • Planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, assembly and dispatch of goods.
  • Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.
  • Utilising in house automated systems to manage daily picking requirements.
  • Keeping stock control systems up to date and ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.
  • Managing waste management and processes within the business.
