Launch your career in fitness with this one-year, employment-focused qualification at Loughborough College. You’ll gain the skills to design and deliver effective training programmes, support clients’ health and wellbeing, and build confidence as a personal trainer or fitness instructor. With hands-on experience in our College gym, this course prepares you for direct entry into the health and fitness industry. It does not lead into higher education. The course is endorsed by CIMSPA.
The course consists of 10 units which explore a variety of different areas,
including:
- Careers in the Health and Fitness Industry:Understanding the sector and
potential career paths.
- Health, Wellbeing and Physical Activity:The relationship between physical
activity and overall health.
- Professional Personal Trainer Practice to Maximise Safe Participant
Experience:Principles of professional conduct and safety for clients.
- Client Screening, Health and Fitness Assessment: Methods for assessing
clients' current health and fitness levels.
- Anatomy, Physiology and Kinesiology for Personal Trainers: The body's
structure and movement related to exercise.
- Exercise Requirements and Contraindications for Specific
Populations:Tailoring exercise for diverse client needs and potential
risks.
- Circuit Training: Designing and delivering circuit-based exercise
sessions.
- Personal Training Methods and Programming: Creating effective exercise
plans for clients.
- Nutrition for Personal Training: Nutritional principles relevant to
fitness and personal training.
- Business, Marketing and Technology for Personal Training: Skills to build
and manage a personal training business.
The course is delivered in a vocational manner, with assessments ranging from
written reports, portfolios, posters to verbal assessments, presentations, and
practical observations.
Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English Language, Maths, and a
Science subject (Biology, Chemistry or Physics). Students will also be required
to demonstrate a keen interest in the fitness industry.
An interview will be required to assess students’ suitability for this
course
Mature students will be considered based on their previous qualifications
and/or relevant work experience.
Upon successful completion of the BTEC Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry
for Personal Trainer (Diploma) , you will have opportunities for progression
into employment or another vocational qualification at Loughborough College or
elsewhere. This course does not lead onto higher education.
