Loughborough College selected to deliver new T Levels

Loughborough College is set to be part of a new wave of technical and vocational education with the Government today (18 June) announcing it has been selected to deliver new T Levels.

Education Secretary Damian Hinds has today confirmed post-16 providers will begin rolling out courses from September next year - with Loughborough College launching training and qualification opportunities from 2021 in four areas - digital, construction, health and science and education and childcare.

T Levels will be high-quality technical alternatives to A Levels, combining classroom theory, practical learning and an industry placement of at least 45 days where students will build the knowledge and skills they need in a workplace environment.

Loughborough College Chief Executive John Doherty said: “We are delighted to have been selected to support this transformation in technical and vocational education and to have the opportunity to deliver training and qualifications which are set to have a major impact - on the future prospects of our students, on meeting the skills needed by employers and on helping to boost our region’s economy.”

Loughborough College Vice Principal Sharon Townes added: “T Levels will be of enormous benefit to our region and to the UK and we are thrilled to be contributing to their delivery. Dynamic plans are already underway at the College and with dedicated government funding we will see significant and exciting developments as part of our preparations. We are very much looking forward to further enhancing the opportunities we offer our students and to continuing to work with education and industry partners to achieve it.”
