A 17 year old Loughborough College student has been awarded the highest possible grade in GCSE English – helping to move him towards what he sees as the industry of the future.

Cole Crawley is thrilled to have achieved a 9 in the subject, equivalent to a high A* in the previous grade system, but admits that when he first saw the result he didn’t understand what it meant. “I was bewildered by the new numbers but I saw my teacher Badron beaming at me, so I started to think it must be good. Then when she explained it … that was a pretty cool moment.

Cole has been studying IT at Loughborough College alongside GCSEs in English and maths and after scoring 9 and 5 will join the College’s Games Development course. “I hope to go to university and then join the tech industry. It’s evolving so fast and I think it’s where the future is.

“I moved from the Phillipines just over a year ago and the College has been so welcoming and helpful. I have no doubt it would not have been possible to achieve the grades I did without my amazing teachers. It was great to see they were as thrilled as I was on the day.

“My parents were so proud. I sent my Mum a picture of my results and she showed it to all her friends.”
