An exciting day of challenges greeted local children when they visited Loughborough College recently.

Experiments in the state of the art Sixth Form science laboratories were amongst a host of activites for pupils from Ratby Primary School designed to offer them an insight into future opportunities.

“We were delighted to host twelve pupils from years 3, 4, and 6. They were so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, eagerly taking on the challenges our science, English and maths A level teachers and students had devised for the visit,” said Loughborough College Head of Sixth Form Sharon Townes.

“The pupils had the opportunity to experiment with acids and alkalis in our state of the art science laboratories, and participate in English and maths quizzes and competitions in our impressive Sixth Form block. They even enjoyed lunch in the College’s Radmoor Restaurant.

“Our Sixth Form team encourages visits from local primary schools to offer pupils a taste of future choices and opportunities and it was great to hear the students all talking about their aspirations. They might have been young but they were career-focused and looking forward to what education could offer them.

“Having the Ratby pupils with us for the day was an absolute pleasure and we very much hope we can help them achieve their goals in the future. “
