Loughborough College honoured in Europe-wide awards for entrepreneurship in education

Loughborough College has been recognized in awards which span Europe for its outstanding entrepreneurial vision and education programmes.

After a rigorous judging process, with criteria including engagement with the local community and business sector as well as strategy for implementation and training, the College was selected as UK National Runner-up in The Entrepreneurial School Awards.

The judging panel commented: “In recognition of the passion and enthusiasm in which the college embraces enterprise education, resulting in sustained and outstanding success stories from alumni attributed to their enterprise experience.”

They continued that there were, “many good examples of how the college has invested in varying degrees in development and delivery of enterprise to students” and that “excellent relationships” were being developed with employers – many facilitated by Young Enterprise with “fantastic examples of young people benefitting from Young Enterprise Programmes.”

Iqbal Ullah, Lecturer and Manager on the Business Management degree course at Loughborough College, said: “This award involved primary and secondary schools, colleges, and universities across the country so this is excellent recognition for the combined efforts of Young Enterprise, the sport and business Higher Education team, Loughborough College, and most importantly, the students who took part.

“We have been running the Business Enterprise program for four years as an integral part of our Higher Education and have seen this deliver outstanding results year on year - contributing to student success beyond the completion of their degree.

“Many Loughborough College alumni have cited the experience of the enterprise program as a vital element in their job market success.”
