Taylor Campbell was thrilled to be awarded his degree at today’s Loughborough College graduation - in the same year he represented Great Britain at the Commonwealth Games.

The 22 year old graduated with a BSc in Sports Science with Management less than five months after returning from competing in the hammer throw on Australia’s Gold Coast.

“I chose Loughborough College because I wanted to focus on my athletics as well as a degree. There is access to outstanding facilities and the tutors at the College understand about training and competing at that level – because so many of them have elite sport backgrounds themselves.

“I was always given the flexibility to study around my schedule. When I was away around the Commonwealth Games my tutors were available online, despite the massive time difference, to support me as I worked on my dissertation.

“I joined Loughborough College just after the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow when I was still a junior and now my dream to compete in the next Games has come true – and I’ve completed my degree alongside that, thanks to the College.

“It’s great to graduate with the friends I’ve made during my degree and celebrate all the hard work paying off. It meant a lot to my parents to be there, they’ve supported me all the way through.

“I might look at going on to a Masters but for now my focus is the 2020 Olympics. I’ll be based in Loughborough and training to take that step up and develop into the senior ranks with hopes of selection for Tokyo.”
