Loughborough College this morning welcomed Nicky Morgan MP and the town’s Chamber of Commerce and Trade – and welcomed the opportunity to showcase its Ofsted Oustanding-rated apprenticeships.

The College hosted a breakfast event for the Loughborough MP, who is Chair of the Government’s Treasury Select Committee, and the Chamber and were joined by a range of local businesses to hear about the Chancellor’s Spring Statement and Office for Budget Responsibility economic forecasts, before sharing news of their apprenticeship success in growing businesses – including the first hand experience of apprentice Faye Dakin.

"Figures this week show that our economy continues to grow, albeit slowly, and that the Government continues to work to balance the nation's book whilst investing in key areas including education and skills. That's why I was delighted this breakfast was being hosted by Loughborough College, who play such an important role in providing training and education locally which help students to fulfil their aspirations," said Nicky Morgan.

“We were delighted to host Nicky Morgan’s Spring Statement Briefing alongside the Loughborough Chamber of Commerce and Trade. It was a wonderful example of bringing together key stakeholders and employers to share common issues and solutions to trade in the region where unemployment currently only stands at 1.3%. Furthermore, it was a perfect opportunity for the College to showcase its Ofsted Outstanding Apprenticeship provision - and visitors today heard from our exceptional sales team on how apprenticeships lead to growth for businesses. Our guests today also enjoyed catering services provided by our very own talented Hospitality & Catering apprentices in our award-winning Radmoor Centre restaurant,” added Gemma Knott, Director of Business Development at Loughborough College.

Faye Dakin studies at Loughborough College alongside working as an apprentice administrator for Harlow Engineered Floors. She talked about providing high levels of customer service as part of the team supplying I-Beams to the construction sector, including many large house builders. Faye is a key contact for customers, dealing with all enquiries and queries and processing all product orders, including liaison with the production and transport team to ensure timely delivery.
