Two students from last year's Public Service course, Lydia Thorne and Matthew Walker have recently passed out of the Police Training Academy with Leicestershire Police at their Headquarters, completing their Police training, and qualifying as Police Constables.

Lydia and Matthew secured their Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) whilst studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Uniformed Protective Services at Loughborough College. Both Lydia and Matthew found success through the course which also helped them to understand what a career in policing was about.

Matthew commented, “I enjoyed my time at Loughborough College and truly believe that the content I learnt about and the discipline that the public service tutors instilled in me helped when going through the training with Leicestershire Police”.

Lydia added, "I passed out of the Leicestershire Police Training Academy on Friday, 31st March! I go out in the area in mid-April and will be based at Beaumont Leys Station near Leicester city centre. I'll be very busy. Always train for that little bit higher, be relentless as your path is your own, and always do what is right for you!"

Lecturers Fiona Strang and Anthony Louch shared their excitement for Lydia and Matthew’s successes, stating, “Both Lydia and Matthew have done a fantastic job in securing roles within Leicestershire Police as Police Constables. Their success is testament to the dedication and commitment they always put in whilst studying on the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services here at Loughborough College, putting in the hard work required to achieve excellent grades.

“Lydia and Matthew made the most of all the opportunities the course gave them and gained a first-hand insight into the many different roles within the Police service through a number of different trips and visits. We look forward to following their future careers and wish them every success for the future.”

Congratulations to Lydia and Matthew on qualifying as Police Constables with Leicestershire Police, and best of luck with your future careers.
